Renting A Car in Malta

Car
Our Malta Rental Car

We have a list of over fifty projects we want to complete on Dragonsinger while we are in Malta. While the island is small, everything is spread out and we know that it will be easier to get things done if we have a car. Plus we have not had a car for an extended period since we had our van at the beginning of the trip. I have missed the freedom that a car provides, so we rent a car for the next two weeks. The five of us can barely fit in together, but it's enough for what we need.

Our friends Roland and Marit on their wood sailboat Sylphe are also in Malta. Roland left Monastir ten days before us and he had Sylphe pulled out of the water as soon as he arrived. His project list is even more extensive than ours and includes some major projects like completely replacing the sealant on all the decks and replacing rotten timbers and wood from one of the chain plates and the coach roof. Kevin and I took the car today to visit Sylphe to see how things were going.

We had only every seen Sylphe in the water before. We now can see how long and high her keel is. To protect the boat from rain it is completely covered with a framework and plastic roof. Roland and Marit are still living on the boat, despite the construction. We wonder how they do it.
