Last Day of David and Karalee's 40th Anniversary Celebration

April 25, 2022

Four days go fast, so we took time to savour the last full day of our 40th Anniversary break. We had a relaxed start of the day. We then went for a big walk replicating much of the route we did the previous day in our horse drawn carriage ride.

At walking speed it was easier to slow down, take pictures, or sit on a bench to take in the water and mountain views. While we have water and mountains in Vancouver, the openness of Juan de Fuca Straight makes it feel different. We poked around, when in and out of areas that interested us, stopped at Fisherman's Wharf, meandering and wondering as the mood took us.

After an afternoon rest enjoying our Empress Hotel room, we walked to dinner at a recommended restaurant by Bastion Square (one of the oldest parts of downtown Victoria). The sun was setting shining on the narrow streets as we arrived at our restaurant. A walk back to our hotel in the dark after dinner and one more chance to sit on the balcony of the Empress Hotel to take in the views was a perfect end to our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations.
