Puerto Vallarta Adventures

April 1, 2011

Allen, Karalee, Daniel, and Jocelyn Visiting

We booked an all day adventure for all of us through Vallarta Adventures. A short taxi ride took us to the marina where a rigid inflatable boat was waiting to speed us across the Bahia de Banderas (Bay of Flags).

We stopped at Quimixto, a small fishing village with no road access. The southern third of the Bahia de Banderas has no road access. The road from Puerto Vallarta heads inland rather than following the bay all the way to its southern most point. At Quimixto, we were all given a horse and took narrow trails up and away from the beach to a lovely waterfall. We stopped for a swim, a dip under the waterfall, and drinks.

After our waterfall stop, we got back on the horses and rode back to the beach. From there we were taken to a tiny inlet where we got to snorkel. There were brightly colored fish and lots of sea life for us to see.

After our refreshing swim to see the fish, we headed back out into the afternoon swell. Twenty minutes of bouncing over waves took us to another fishing village near Punta La Iglesia, the southern most point of Bahia de Banderas.

A beautiful lunch awaited us. We ate in the shade. Some of us had an afternoon nap in a hammock. Others relaxed on the beach. Jocelyn and Daniel went for a kayak ride on the ocean. When we were done, all of us headed back to the boat where a half hour ride took us all the way back across the bay to the marina.
