Kevin, Carley, David, Jocelyn, Karalee, Daniel, Carley, and Allen

David celebrated his 60th birthday by a big sailing adventure from Norway to Iceland. Karalee met David in Iceland which they explored before flying to Lisbon, Portugal. Jocelyn and Daniel moved to a two-bedroom townhome. Kevin moved in with his girlfriend Carley Bodrug. Allen did a year-long coop and started dating Benita Yi. Karalee enjoyed her year while developing her Monat Global business.

Jocelyn and Daniel

The big news for Jocelyn and Daniel was that they sold their one-bedroom condominium in North Vancouver in one day and a week later bought a two bedroom unit in Lynn Valley. Daniel completed his second of four terms at BCIT for qualifying for his plumbing ticket. While they both work for other people, they also continue to build their own landscaping and construction business. The two of them have arranged for all of us and Daniel's family to meet in Progreso, Mexico for Christmas this year.

Kevin has continued his work with Deloitte here in Vancouver. He worked on one significant project based in Victoria and was often commuting by float plane or helicopter. He continued with sports from skiing to Ultimate Frisbee playing for Riptide (a professional team). A year ago, he started dating Carley and at the end of October they moved in together in an apartment on the East side of Vancouver. They plan to travel together in early 2018 after spending Christmas with all of us in Mexico.

Allen and Benita

Allen finished his one year co-op with rew.ca (Real Estate Weekly's online site). At his going away lunch, the team highlighted over 30 projects Allen had completed in his 12 months. Allen was surprised at just how many projects he had completed. Allen is going out with Benita Yi and in July, David took the two of them sailing in one of the new RVYC Capri 22 sailboats. This was Benita's first time sailing! She was on the helm before you knew it. In the fall, Allen returned to UBC in his dual major Business and Computer Science program. He will finish his degree in April, 2018. After that he plans to go travelling for a few months with friends.

Karalee

Karalee continues to enjoy life with David and the family, traveling, gardening, walking the dogs, and volunteering with refugee high school students. She also made wonderful friendships while growing her Monat Global business in nontoxic haircare products. She is connecting with the medical field again, plus the holistic side! Personal growth and learning about social media were focuses this year. Life is meant to be happy, joyful and peaceful and her intention is to start writing on this topic. Right now, Karalee's thoughts are with family and friends especially with those no longer here: Jim Craig, Bobbie Robinson, Ron Wilson and her grandma Peasley, all who she has lots of fond memories of.

David Goes Sailing to Celebrate His 60th Birthday

David Sailing Past the NW Corner of Iceland at 4:00 am on his 60th Birthday

To celebrate his 60th birthday, David sailed from Norway to Iceland with UK adventure company Rubicon3. This photo was taken at 4:00 am on his birthday as he and eight other fellow crew members sailing around the NW Cape of Iceland. David continued to build his strategic planning and coaching business in 2017 and is looking to grow it more in 2018. David also spent time in Puerto Vallarta, both by himself, and with Karalee. In October, he did his third photography workshop with Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. This time in Bar Harbor, Maine. Being stretched in his sailing and photography, helped David to be better with his clients and in life. He just completed his ski instructor level 1 certification in order that he can better help with his volunteering with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports.

In other news from 2017, Karalee's Mom turned 79 and is coming to Mexico with us. David's Mom turned 90 and we were there to celebrate as a family.

After David's big sailing trip, he met Karalee in Reykjavik, Iceland. From there they flew to Lisbon, Portugal to be somewhere warmer and have another new place to explore. They then drove North to Porto and then further north ending up in A Coruna, Spain a seaside city and where the retail chain Zara was founded and still run from. Karalee and David alternated days of exploration with simpler days of walking, seeing fewer sites so that they could take in the surroundings and cities that they were visiting. On their way south they also stopped to see Santiago de Compostela to visit the cathedral which is the destination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Back in Lisbon they spent a day visiting with Rosa Livingstone's sister Manuela who lives there. Great to have local friends!

Have an amazing 2018 and we look forward to connecting with you and your families.
