David and Jocelyn Ride Whistler's Peak 2 Peak Gondola

Saturday, February 18, 2009

In December, 2008 Whistler Blackcomb opened the new Peak 2 Peak Gondola. This gondola connects the top of Whistler ski resort with the top of Blackcomb. Before Peak 2 Peak, skiers who wanted to ski both Whistler and Blackcomb in a day had to ski all the way to the bottom of one mountain, and then take all the lifts up the other mountain. On a great day, this could easily take a half hour. With the new Peak 2 Peak Gondola, the trip now takes eleven minutes.

In February, 2009 David and Jocelyn Greer decided to ski both Whistler and Blackcomb, while trying out the new Peak 2 Peak Gondola. We arrived at the top of Whistler at 10:00. By noon, we had skied Emerald, Peak, Symphony, and Harmony before heading back to the top of Whistler. We boarded the Peak 2 Peak Gondola and were amazed at how smooth and quick the ride was. It was awesome to be across Fitzsimmons Creek and at the top of Blackcomb, in time for a short ski ride to Glacier Creek Lodge to have lunch. We skied Blackcomb all afternoon, before reversing our path and returning to Whistler on Peak 2 Peak. We finished the day with a ride up Peak chair and a high speed run on the Peak to Creek run. The new Peak 2 Peak Gondola gave us a day to remember. Enjoy our blue sky day with this video and set of pictures.
